Self-trust
Confidence that you can handle the consequences of your decisions — even when you don't know in advance how things will turn out.
How it shows up
- You make decisions without collecting approval from everyone around you.
- A mistake reads as experience, not as proof that you're inadequate.
- You keep the promises you make to yourself — at least the small ones.
- Doubts are there, but they don't stop you moving.
What feeds it
Self-trust is built the same way as trust in another person: from promises kept. Every small thing finished, every decision whose consequences you lived through, adds weight to it. It doesn't need certainty about the outcome — only certainty that you'll stay on your own side.
What erodes it
Broken promises to yourself, constant checking against other people's opinions, and the habit of scolding yourself for mistakes. Every “I'll do it tomorrow” that never happened chips away at it.
