Bright start, fading interest
A new project takes you over completely, then a few weeks later the interest fades — and the next idea arrives to replace it.
How it shows up
- The beginning of a project is the best part: energy, plans, buying everything you need.
- Once routine sets in, the interest dims almost physically.
- Your notes and folders hold a graveyard of abandoned starts.
- A new idea feels like a rescue from the boredom of the old one.
Where it usually comes from
Novelty alone gives a strong lift, and it's easy to slip into living from one lift to the next. The routine middle of any work gives no such lift, and it's easy to read that as a sign that “this isn't for me”. Sometimes fear sits there too: as long as a thing isn't finished, it can't fail.
What it costs
Many beginnings and few results you can show. Slowly, trust in yourself erodes — “I'll quit anyway” — and that belief makes every next start heavier.
